Lighthouse Ladies Holiday Donation Drive

This holiday season, illustrator Islenia Mil and I are seeking corporate and individual sponsorships to purchase Lighthouse Ladies for kids who may not be able to afford it or those who need a lift as they forge ahead in their own heroic battles.

I've reached out to a variety of nonprofits who work with children in Richmond, Va. (my hometown), as well as national groups to find out how many copies of Lighthouse Ladies they would be interested in receiving for those they serve. The response has been enthusiastic and overwhelming!

So here's my ask: Would you be willing to sponsor any or a portion of these purchases listed below?

If you're in the Richmond area and would like me to sign them before donating, you can order from bbgb books here. They will be collecting Richmond area donations for me moving foward (just add the phrase "Lighthouse Ladies book drive" and indicate which local nonprofit you would like to receive your donation in the instructions/comments at checkout.)

For donations outside of the Richmond area, books can be donated to the organization directly by mailing to their listed address. You can purchase books through the HarperCollins website here and use the code "Lighthouse Ladies" for free shipping and an additional 5% discount. I also encourage you to buy the book from your local indie bookshop wherever you are and donate to a worthy cause in your area! **NORTHERN VIRGINIA **

Reading is Fundamental Northern Virginia (NoVa); while there is no donation limit, a purchase of 100-200 books will secure books for an entire grade or two for students in a designated Title 1 school in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax or Prince William; I will also do an in person author visit at the school. Books can be mailed to Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia, Attn: Sari Warren, 8057 Prichards Court, Dunn Loring, VA 22027.

** NEW YORK **

Start Lighthouse (NY, NY) Any amount of donations contributing to a request of 2,100 books or more. This nonprofit runs full-time Literacy Hubs serving over 2,100 students in the Bronx. They would include Lighthouse Ladies as one of the 15 titles students can select to take home for free. Books can be sent to Rina Madhani, Port Morris School of Community Leadership PS/MS 5X, 564 Jackson Ave., Bronx, NY 10455.

** NATIONAL **

Every Child a Reader (NY) 250 books; These books would be included in an effort they are preparing to launch to get books to 100 underfunded school libraries. Books can be mailed to Every Child a Reader, 54 West 39th St., 14th Fl., New York, NY 10018.

First Book Book Bank (DC) Donation has to be 500 books or more; donated books will allow Title I schools nationwide to receive brand new books, all they pay is the cost of shipping. Email me at kris [dot] coronado [at] gmail [dot] com and I'll connect you with their donation team.
