Whether you’re looking to learn about flying cars or the making of the White House gingerbread house, Kris is your go-to-gal for uncovering fascinating facts. She also has a penchant for diving into atypically awesome worlds, whether it’s an air guitar contest, sideshow performers, or the raucous story behind the making of a Ginger Baker documentary.
When did her writing journey begin? Early! Kris got her start as a teenage journalist writing for her hometown paper, the Richmond Times-Dispatch. (If you dig into the archives, you'll find some embarrassing photos of her as the "Download Diva" writing about internet trends on things like Napster and Netflix.) After graduating from William & Mary, she went on to have a career which involved working at the likes of People, Entertainment Weekly, Redbook, and becoming a regular contributor for the Washington Post before she and her husband moved to Richmond to start a family. Within a handful of years, another writing bug bit her – HARD! -- and she decided to transition into writing children's books. These days you’ll find her brainstorming her next picture book idea, dancing to 80s music and running around to various kid activities. |
